FIRE DAMAGES GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH AND ACADEMY
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Aug. 3, 2024 – Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Academy experienced a multi-alarm fire at our 525 63rd Street facility on Monday, July 29, 2024 shortly after 6:00 a.m. No one was injured, but fire damage is significant. Our school facility is unusable three weeks before students expect to attend class. Worshippers cannot occupy our church facility until further notice.
We are grateful that no lives were lost in our Church and Academy community, nor in the surrounding local communities of Downers Grove, Westmont or Darien. While this tragedy has destroyed a building, it has not claimed any souls. As we work to reclaim the comfort of our earthly church, we treasure the comfort of knowing that where two or more are gathered in His name, there also is our Father.
